Tuberculosis

Overview

Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious airborne disease caused mainly by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which infects one-fourth of the world’s population. With timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment, further spread of the disease can be prevented.

WHO response

WHO/Europe supports the implementation of the End TB Strategy and works with key international and national partners to support Member States in the WHO European Region to eliminate TB.
